How To Become Strong

How To Become Strong In More Ways Than One

One answer to how to become strong is to lift weights. You'll soon realize, if you push yourself a bit, lifting those weights starts to cause a "burn", meaning lactic acid is being generated and microscopic muscle fibers are tearing. The next time around, lifting those weights becomes a bit easier, and you can try heavier weights. You are becoming physically stronger.

Body, Mind, And Spirit- Being able to lift heavy weights doesn't mean you can handle whatever problems life may throw at you. Physical strength alone isn't enough, even though some think that way. You need to learn how to become strong in at least a couple of other ways as well.

To navigate through life successfully, it's a much easier journey if you learn how to become strong mentally as well as physically. Although little or no physical effort is involved in becoming stronger mentally, it isn't necessarily always easy. Changing your way of thinking can be just as difficult and time consuming at times as can doubling the amount of iron you can bench press.

Learning how to become strong has a third element or dimension. That is becoming stronger spiritually. A person who is strong spiritually more often than not has a much clearer ideas of his or her place in the world and a much clearer idea of what he or she wants to achieve, as well as how to get there.

Mental Strength - Instead of trying to figure out how to become strong physically, or mentally, or spiritually, you want to ask yourself you need to be doing to make yourself a stronger person, stronger in mind, body, and spirit. Becoming stronger in mind doesn't have to mean pursuing a graduate degree, or collecting several degrees. It has more to do with mentally being able to think clearly, and in an organized fashion. A person who is strong mentally almost always has what is referred to as intellectual curiosity. You don't have to be an egg head to have intellectual curiosity. Any one can learn to have that, and everyone really should.

Start At The Beginning - As far as the body is concerned, there's absolutely nothing wrong with building powerful muscles. Maybe some go overboard, or maybe the rest of us are a bit envious, but a well sculpted body is pleasant to behold, and to have. A good way to strengthen yourself physically is to have someone experienced in such things lay out a weight training program for you, then just stick too it. At some point you'll be able to figure out for yourself how to proceed, but that probably won't happen right away.

Spirit And Spiritual - What about spirit? This one scares some people off, especially those who wrongly equate being spiritual with being religious. The two can be one in the same for some, but don't have to be. It's helpful to acknowledge that you just might have a soul, whether you believe it or not, as spirituality has much to do with the workings of the soul. Being strong physically helps you move things that need to be moved, being strong mentally helps you solve life's everyday problems, and being strong spiritually helps you cope with the trials and tribulations life throws at you.

In Summary - How to be strong physically? Get yourself in shape and work the weights. Eat healthy foods. To be strong mentally, learn to meditate, practice learning to concentrate and focus - intensely, and work on that hidden sense of intellectual curiosity. As for becoming stronger spiritually, meditation helps there too. You can also learn about the different religions (you don't have to join one, just study the beliefs), and most importantly think about your place in the universe, and the place of others as well.
